Tangtang: Mastering the Silly Supreme Chief

A comprehensive breakdown of Tangtang — solo DPS, Yvonne support, Last Rite support, builds, rotations, and team comps.

Cryo Caster | Sub DPS / Support | Whirlpool Mechanic | Freeze + Dive

TL;DR - Key Points

  • Whirlpool setup required — Complete two combo cycles before using skill for max 479% multiplier
  • Freeze ult enables dive — +60% DMG dealt bonus, don’t miss the free skill cast
  • Best in Cryo teams — Last Rite (+13%) and Yvonne (+9%) benefit most from her support
  • Signature weapon matters — Brigand’s Calling provides ~10% team damage lead
  • Competitive solo DPS — Surprisingly close to pre-Tangtang Yvonne/Last Rite teams
  • P1 is key for main DPS — Enables 5-combo rotations, resolves energy issues

Kit Basics

Before diving into builds and rotations, here’s how Tangtang actually works.

Tangtang is a Cryo caster who deals solid damage while providing team support. Her full rotation revolves around using her combo twice — triggered by either a Cryo Infliction or an Arts Burst. Each combo creates one whirlpool, which empowers her skill.

Her skill applies Cryo Infliction and scales in power based on how many whirlpools you’ve set up beforehand:

WhirlpoolsTotal DMG MultiplierSP ReturnArts Susceptibility
0213%00%
1346%205%
2479%4010%

Important: Because of the required setup, don’t use her as your sole Cryo Infliction source for Last Rite or Yvonne. Only use her skill after completing both combo setups.

Her ultimate temporarily freezes enemies. Using a dive attack on the controlled operator triggers the same effects as her skill, with an additional +60% DMG Dealt bonus. The ultimate also deals damage on its own (reduced if you skip the dive), but the dive is essentially a free skill cast — don’t miss it.

Off-Element Teams?

Tangtang can provide generic Arts Susceptibility to off-element teams, but 10% isn’t a huge draw. Her best use cases are in Last Rite and Yvonne teams where every Cryo Infliction counts. Below, we’ll cover three team configurations: Yvonne main DPS, Last Rite main DPS, and Tangtang main DPS.

Team Configurations

Three distinct setups — pick based on who you’re building around.

Yvonne Main DPS

Tangtang plays a support role, contributing ~20% of the team’s total damage while providing Cryo Infliction setup and Arts Susceptibility.

  • Yvonne
  • Tangtang
  • Xaihi
  • Gilberta / Perlica

Last Rite Main DPS

Similar structure to Yvonne’s team, but Last Rite’s susceptibility increases actually boost Tangtang’s personal damage — making her a slightly better upgrade here.

  • Last Rite
  • Tangtang
  • Xaihi
  • Perlica

Tangtang Main DPS

Use both Gilberta and Perlica as supports alongside Xaihi. Tangtang’s basic attack finisher becomes a major damage source here. Surprisingly competitive.

  • Tangtang
  • Gilberta
  • Perlica
  • Xaihi

Builds & Weapons

Tangtang — Support Build

Her signature weapon, Brigand’s Calling, leads by a sizeable margin — it improves both personal damage and team support, putting alternatives roughly 10% lower in total team damage. Clannibal is worth noting as a strong stat stick despite having an effect she can’t proc.

Gear: Bonekrusha Wristband T1, two Bonekrusha T2 masks, and Type 50 Yinglung Heavy Armor T1 for ultimate gain in rotation.

Tangtang — Main DPS Build

Switch one Bonekrusha kit for a LYNX Slab (decent damage increase due to her basic attack finisher) and swap to Bonekrusher Heavy Armor to keep the set bonus and maintain ultimate gain.

Yvonne

Gear and weapon options remain the same as her standalone guide. The damage gap between her signature and alternatives is similar to Tangtang’s — if you had to choose, Tangtang’s weapon is more flexible, while Yvonne’s is marginally more powerful. Note: her ultimate damage is basic attack damage, so skip ultimate damage gear.

Last Rite

Her signature Khravengger leads by a similar margin as most limited characters’ signatures. Exemplar is a solid stat stick, Sundered Prince is slightly stronger with better stagger, and Seeker of Dark Lung falls significantly behind unless you shorten the rotation (which causes alignment issues with Tangtang).

Gear: Tide Surge Gauntlets/kits and Aethertech Armor for burst damage.

Xaihi

Best weapons remain Detonation Unit (slightly preferred) or Chivalric Virtues. The new Redeemer body doesn’t outperform running Eternal Xiranite 3-piece with a Frontiers kit — though a pure INT build can be a damage increase when running Gilberta on Eternal Xiranite.

Gilberta

Her signature weapon Delivery Guaranteed is actually a damage loss versus a maxed Stanza of Memorials. Use Eternal Xiranite for gear regardless. If you do have her sig, you can run Swordmancer for extra stagger.

For the Tangtang main DPS team specifically, Gilberta benefits from an Arts Intensity build (Hot Work set + Redeemer Seal for ult gain), since you’ll be proccing a powerful Corrosion reaction with her. With her signature weapon, skip the ult gain gear and run full Arts Intensity with 3-piece Hot Work and Pulser Labs body.

Perlica

Use Stanza of Memorials. Gear: Eternal Xiranite gloves T1 (or Hot Work Gloves at P2), Pulser Labs body, two calibrators.

Gilberta vs Perlica note: For the Last Rite team specifically, Perlica is strongly preferred. Gilberta can’t use her combo skill in that team, leading to a “staggering lack of stagger.” For the Yvonne team, the rotation between both support variants is nearly identical — just hit their combos when available and handle ults per the timing notes below.

Rotations

Yvonne Team Rotation

Optimized for 0 energy start, single target. The bottleneck here is Tangtang’s combo cooldown.

  1. Start with Tangtang’s skill (instant Cryo Infliction, gets combo cooldown rolling)
  2. One basic attack combo, then Xaihi’s skill (delayed to align with Tangtang’s next combo)
  3. Another basic combo → Yvonne skill, basic, combo; hold Xaihi’s combo until Tangtang’s is nearly up
  4. Another basic combo → Xaihi’s skill again; basic attacks until Tangtang’s combo is up
  5. Use Tangtang’s skill + combo along with Xaihi’s combo
  6. Final Xaihi skill — her combo triggers Tangtang’s 4th combo. Go time.
  7. Xaihi ult → Yvonne skill, auto, combo → Yvonne ult
  8. Halfway through Yvonne’s ult: use Gilberta + Tangtang ult, jump + dive on Yvonne
  9. After the ult’s final attack: dodge cancel → finisher

Tip: The 1+4 stack skill for Yvonne is a bit overkill. Thanks to Gilberta’s passive, you can actually cut the middle Xaihi skill entirely without impacting anyone’s ultimate gain — rotation length stays roughly the same either way due to the Tangtang combo bottleneck.

Last Rite Team Rotation

Similar rhythm to Yvonne’s rotation, also starting with Tangtang’s skill to get the combo cooldown going.

  1. Tangtang’s skill to start
  2. Xaihi’s skill, then two basic combos (pro-tip: buffer the dodge cancel on Last Rite’s basic before hitting Perlica’s combo)
  3. Perlica combo + Last Rite skill + Tangtang combo
  4. One more basic chain → 3 stacks of Cryo Infliction → Last Rite combo + Xaihi skill (in a Gilberta rotation you’d use a Last Rite skill here, but Tangtang needs the extra SP energy)
  5. Continue basics; when Tangtang’s combo is ready → Tangtang skill
  6. Trigger Xaihi’s combo + one more Xaihi skill
  7. One basic chain → Last Rite skill → final basic chain to proc everyone’s combos (4 stacks of Infliction)
  8. Xaihi and Perlica combos connect first → use their ultimates
  9. Tangtang + Last Rite combos as soon as they appear; use Tangtang ult anytime during Last Rite’s combo animation
  10. Dive → finisher → Last Rite ult

Warning: Things move fast in the burst window — be careful not to cancel anyone’s combo with their own ultimate.

Tangtang Main DPS Rotation

The bottleneck here shifts to Perlica’s combo cooldown. M3ing Perlica’s combo may smooth out the rotation, but there’s a neat trick to shave off a couple of seconds:

Rotation trick: Start on any character besides Tangtang (Perlica or Xaihi work well). Get a full basic attack combo in during Tangtang’s skill/combo animations — this gets Perlica’s combo rolling over 2 seconds earlier. Swap back to Tangtang after the combo finishes.

  1. Start on another unit → get a basic combo in → swap to Tangtang; use Tangtang skill + combo
  2. Xaihi skill + two basic attack combos → second Tangtang combo
  3. Xaihi skill again; two more basic combos lining up with Perlica’s cooldown
  4. Land second final strike → immediately use Tangtang skill (before her combo activates or you waste a whirlpool)
  5. Wait a few seconds → Gilberta’s skill to set up tier 4 Corrosion
  6. Xaihi skill + two more basic combos aligned with Perlica’s combo
  7. After Xaihi + Perlica combos land → use their ultimates + Tangtang + Gilberta combo
  8. After Gilberta’s combo lands → Gilberta + Tangtang ult → dive → finisher

Skill Priority

Talent NodeWeight (Main DPS)Weight (Support)Notes
Basic Attack44.50%6.86%Huge for main DPS due to the finisher
Skill36.19%65.62%Primary focus when playing support
Combo3.59%6.11%Level 9 for -1s cooldown, M3 for -2s
Ultimate15.71%21.71%Mid value in both roles

For main DPS, basic attack edges out the skill slightly thanks to the massive finisher damage. As support, focus the skill hard. Don’t ignore combo leveling entirely — the cooldown reduction at level 9 and M3 is the bottleneck in many rotations.

DPS Comparison

How do the teams stack up relative to their pre-Tangtang baselines?

Team CompositionDPS Increase
Last Rite + Tangtang+13%
Yvonne + Tangtang+9%
Tangtang Main DPSCompetitive

Last Rite benefits slightly more than Yvonne because Last Rite’s susceptibility increases also boost Tangtang’s personal damage. The Tangtang main DPS team is surprisingly close to the pre-Tangtang Yvonne and Last Rite teams — quite impressive for a primarily supportive sub-DPS.

Potentials

As main DPS, Tangtang’s potentials offer roughly 40% total team damage between P0 and P5. Her P1 is especially impactful — it enables 5-combo rotations, generates more SP, and effectively resolves her energy issues (allowing T2 Bonekrusha Heavy Armor for a slight boost).

In team/support configurations, the numbers are notably smaller. P1 improves debuff uptime and has decent value; P3 further increases that debuff value. Worth the investment for main DPS players; lower priority as a support.

Final Verdict

Strictly speaking, without her signature weapon, Tangtang may not surpass the previous best-in-slot teams for Yvonne or Last Rite. With her signature, she offers roughly a 10% DPS increase. More importantly though — she just feels great to play. Her animations are fast, fluid, and satisfying in a way that makes going back to older DPS characters feel like night and day. Well worth picking up.

Changelog

  • Updated Gilberta’s Arts Intensity set to use Hot Works (new 1.1 Arts Intensity gloves were missed in original calcs), plus Perlica’s T2+ build for a slight damage increase.
  • Fixed Last Rite weapon calculations — both her signature and Sundered Prince effects were underrepresented due to a calculation bug.
