Event Overview

Survival Training is a limited challenge event running April 9 – April 30, 2026. To access it, speak to Klara at Hub Base in Valley IV — she unlocks all available stages with no prerequisites beyond reaching the region.

There are no lives or attempt limits. Every stage can be re-run freely until the event ends. What makes Survival Training distinct is that each of the 8 stages introduces a unique mechanical hazard, not a harder version of the same fight. Adapting to the mechanic is the challenge.

8 Stages

Each with a distinct mechanic — not just scaling stats

1,600+ Oroberyl

200 per stage × 8 stages from first clears

No Attempt Limit

Re-run any stage freely until April 30

Pro Tip: Mark of Perseverance

Mark of Perseverance is a 5-star Skill Mastery upgrade material. With 8 stages each yielding one, Survival Training provides 8 total — a significant chunk of the late-game mastery grind. They're also available via Bond Quota Exchange at 25 Bond Quota each, but the event rate is far better.

Stage 1: Like Draws Like

Last updated: Stage 5 "Bad Neighbor" added April 13, 2026.

The Mechanic: Venom Pools

When a Tunneling Nidwyrm or Indigenous Pincerbeast dies, it leaves a venom pool at its exact death location. The pool deals ongoing damage and applies Slow to any units standing in it — including your own operators. Where you kill enemies matters as much as how fast you kill them.

Enemies

Enemy Key Behavior
Tunneling Nidwyrm Drops a venom pool on death
Indigenous Pincerbeast Frontal cross-cut and leaping claw (Physical); Originium clusters glow before attacks; drops a venom pool on death
Acid Originium Slug No venom pool — additional pressure only

Strategy

Kill at Range

Use ranged attackers like Yvonne or Wulfgard to kill Nidwyrms and Pincerbeasts from a distance. When they die, the venom pool appears at their location — not yours. You never walk through it.

Cluster With Gilberta

Gilberta's Battle Skill pulls all nearby enemies into a tight cluster. Kill the cluster in one spot and all venom pools concentrate there. The rest of the battlefield stays clean. This is the cleanest solution — the pools accumulate in one designated zone and your team moves freely everywhere else.

The worst outcome is letting enemies scatter and die across the entire map — venom pools block every chokepoint and your team stumbles through Slow debuffs for the rest of the fight.

Stage 2: Explosion Practice

Objective: Use Industrial Explosives to defeat attacking enemies and protect the supplies.

The Mechanic: Industrial Explosives + Firemist Slug

Industrial Explosives are throwable weapons that deal AoE damage and destroy destructible walls, Blight cores, and boxes. Your job is to use them efficiently — which means grouping enemies first.

The Firemist Originium Slug is the grouping tool. In this stage, when a Firemist Slug dies, it drags all nearby enemies toward its corpse. This is a stage-specific mechanic, not normal enemy behavior. Kill the Slug when enemies are nearby, let the pull cluster them, then detonate.

Enemies

Enemy Key Behavior
Bonekrusher Pyromancer Ranged caster; escalating fireball volleys (1 → 2 → 3); teleports forward when approached in melee; 0.5× Heat damage taken
Bonekrusher Ripptusk Fast; pauses briefly mid-path in this stage
Bonekrusher Raider Standard melee attacker
Bonekrusher Ambusher Standard attacker
Firemist Originium Slug Slow; on death, drags nearby enemies toward its corpse (stage-specific mechanic)

Strategy

Firemist Slug Is Your Crowd Control

Don't rush the Slug immediately. Wait until other enemies are near it, kill the Slug to trigger the corpse pull, then throw your explosive into the clustered group. The pull is wasted if enemies are scattered when the Slug dies.

Pyromancers Teleport Forward, Not Away

When you approach a Pyromancer in melee range, it teleports forward along its path — it repositions ahead, not backward. Chasing it wastes time. Use ranged attacks or throw an explosive at its new position instead.

Exploit the Ripptusk Pause

Ripptusks pause briefly at a midpoint in this stage. Pre-place an explosive at that spot before they arrive. They run in, stop — detonate. No chasing required.

Pro Tip: Heat Teams Have a Handicap Here

Bonekrusher Pyromancers take 0.5× Heat damage. Laevatain-based teams will underperform on that specific enemy. Physical or Electric compositions have no such handicap and are the safer pick for Stage 2.

Stages 3–8: What to Expect

Stage 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 NOW LIVE

Outlast the Bugs (Stage 3) live since April 11. Coordinated Demolishing (Stage 4) live April 12. Bad Neighbor (Stage 5) live April 13. Castle Doctrine (Stage 6) live April 14. Feral Gall (Stage 7) live April 15.

Stages 4–8 unlock daily from April 12. Full walkthroughs will be added as each stage goes live. Based on stage names and the mechanic-per-stage pattern, here's what each likely involves:

Stage 4

Coordinated Demolishing

Unlocks April 12

The word "Demolishing" suggests explosive mechanics may return, possibly with multi-objective coordination — multiple targets or timed detonations.

Stage 5

Bad Neighbor

NOW LIVE — April 13

Objective: Defeat all enemies to earn victory.

The Mechanic: Position the Axe Armorbeast so itscharge ram hits the Acid Originium Slug, applying Staggered. Use Finisher DMG and/or ramming to defeat the Slug. The Slug's charge mechanics require careful positioning to exploit its vulnerability window.

Stage 6

Castle Doctrine

NOW LIVE — April 14

Objective: Use Industrial Explosives to defeat attacking enemies and protect the supplies.

Rewards: Oroberyl ×200, Mark of Perseverance ×1, Protoprism ×50, T-Creds ×40,000.

The Mechanic: When killed, Indigenous Pincerbeast continuously deals DMG to nearby enemies (DoT corpse). When killed, Firemist Originium Slug pulls in nearby enemies. Chain these effects: kill Pincerbeast to create damage zone, then kill Firemist Slug to pull enemies INTO that zone.

Strategy: Protect supplies first by pre-placing explosives near crates. Kill Pincerbeasts away from your operators. Use Firemist Slug pulls to feed enemies into Pincerbeast death zones for maximum efficiency.

Stage 7

Feral Gall

NOW LIVE — April 15

Objective: Defeat all enemies to earn victory.

The Mechanic: Position the Axe Armorbeast so its charge rams the rock, applying Staggered to itself. Then use Finisher DMG to defeat the beast. Unlike Stage 5 where the Armorbeast rams an enemy, here you redirect its charge into terrain to create the vulnerability window.

Stage 8

Final Assessment

Unlocks April 15

The hardest and most comprehensive stage. The only stage with a time limit — required to earn the Trimmed Medal. Likely combines mechanics from earlier stages. Bring your highest-output team.

Common Mistakes & How to Avoid Them

1. Standing near dying enemies in Stage 1

If you're adjacent to a Nidwyrm or Pincerbeast when it dies, your team walks straight into the freshly spawned venom pool. Fix: kill at range. Keep your operators away from the death location.

2. Letting enemies scatter before killing Firemist Slugs

The Slug's corpse pull only groups enemies that are already nearby. If you kill the Slug when enemies are spread out, the pull barely helps. Fix: bait enemies toward the Slug first, then kill it.

3. Chasing Pyromancers into melee

The Pyromancer teleports forward (ahead) when you get close in melee — it doesn't flee backward. You waste time repositioning and it resets its fireball sequence. Fix: ranged attacks or explosives only.

4. Attempting Stage 8 without understanding the mechanics

Stage 8 has a time limit only for the Trimmed Medal, but it's still the hardest stage. Clear stages 3–7 first to understand the event's mechanic patterns. Fix: work through stages in order, don't skip straight to 8.

5. Using Heat teams against Pyromancers in Stage 2

Bonekrusher Pyromancers take 0.5× Heat damage — half the expected output. Laevatain will significantly underperform on this specific enemy. Fix: run Physical or Electric for Stage 2, or swap DPS for that encounter.

6. Forgetting to open the Advanced Progression Selection Crate I

The event completion crate is opened via the Valuable Stash menu — it's not automatically granted. After clearing all 8 stages, go there to pick your Tier 5 material before the event ends.
